Guided Birding

Adirondack Lowlands Backcountry Birding

Visit boreal birding hotspots that are not in the travel books. Expect a fully immersive experience into the habitat of spruce grouse, black-backed woodpecker, boreal chickadee, palm warbler, Lincoln's sparrow, and other boreal specialties. This is a true adventure! Depending on what you decide after consulting with your guide, your outing may include kayaking/canoeing, stream crossings, bushwhacking, bog sloshing and more. All areas have been scouted by your seasoned Adirondack guide who is prepared to help you enjoy an experience that is fun, adventurous, and presents your best opportunity for close encounters with boreal birds and their habitats. May be a day trip or overnight backpacking trip. You must supply your own backpacking gear.

Mountain Birding

Hike an Adirondack Mountain. If you want to encounter the endangered Bicknell's thrush in New York, this is the way to do it! Experience a unique species composition in each of the stratified habitat zones from the bottom to the top; Temperate, Boreal, and in some cases, Arctic. Hike an Adirondack high peak as a day trip or overnight backpacking experience, or, for a handicapped accessible option, talk to your guide about birding Whiteface Memorial Highway. For overnight trips, you must supply your own backpacking gear.

Classic Adirondack Guided Birding

If you want someone to guide you to experience a specific species or habitat type and would like to remain on the beaten path while doing so, your Wild Neighbors Nature Connection Guide is poised to help you make the most of your outing. Handicapped accessible options are available.

Birding by Kayak/Canoe

Experience birding from the intriguing vantage of a boat on the water. There are some beautiful waterways in the Adirondacks, some more remote than others. Every river, lake, and flow harbors an incredible amount of avian diversity along its banks. You must supply your own kayak or canoe.
