What it’s all about!

Upon reading a blog written by Church Leader and Blogger Carey Nieuwhof, I was reminded of the importance of clearly communicating the Why, the What, and the How of this experiment I've been investing myself in for the past six months.

Here it is; the WHY, the WHAT, and the HOW of

The WHY of, simply put, is "because the best life includes all life."

To me this means that if I want to life my best life possible I've got to find ways to welcome and celebrate the full diversity that exists within the human race as well as all of the great diversity of life that exists on planet earth. There is something intrinsically good and beautiful about every living thing, and all living things have a role to play in community and are all interdependent upon one another. I want to celebrate each of these truths and that is why "the best life includes all life."

The WHAT of is articulated in these three phrases: "Love God. Love others. Live into community with all that has life."

To me this means that I have a responsibility to take this love and desire that the Spirit of God has placed in my heart and to turn that heart change into action in the world.

The HOW of is to allow the teaching and example of Jesus, the implications of conservation science, as well as our own life experiences and the life experiences of others to inform our living.

In most of the posts I share on this blog I've attempted and will continue to integrate the WHY, WHAT, and HOW of

If you've been following for a while, I'm glad you are here and I hope this online experiment is providing good opportunities for personal reflection, growth, and action in community; and if you're new to the blog and Facebook page, welcome!

Check out these cool shirts that my sister-in-law Carly Hanlon was kind enough to make for me!

(the name and the WHY is depicted in the back of the shirts)

(the logo is on the top left corner of the front of the shirt. The "B" stands for "Best," the "L" stands for "Life," and the cross that these two letters make as they come together is a symbol for the way of Jesus. The big "C" that encompasses the other letters stands for "Community," and the fact that the front of the "C" is open carries a special significance to me because I always want to work to expand my sense of community.)
