A servant leader building community

If she's not working as the bakery manager at Topps she's gardening, leading one of three local cub scout or girl scout groups, or giving of her time at the Wellsboro Area Food Pantry. My friend Nicki is such a community-oriented person that her commitment to giving herself for the well-bring of others is contagious.

I recall once that she told me that by investing herself in community this way she is continuing her parents legacy of being a helper, and giving herself for others. I think I'm paraphrasing a bit there, but I also think that this is what was at the heart of her reason for doing what she does as she articulated it.

I also know that Nicki, like many others who I am grateful to live into community with, give of themselves for others and in this way follow the example of Jesus who placed no boundaries or limits upon who he welcomed into community and who he gave himself in love and service to.

Nicki, thank you for your investment in community, and for your example which inspires others to live into community with all that has life (which includes children who need mentors and people who need to eat good food) in Jesus' name.
